Description Tomasz Jarzynka 2004-11-10 17:32:54 UTC
Version: 1.7.0 (using KDE KDE 3.3.0)
Installed from: Unlisted Binary Package

KMail (I don't know if this belongs to KMail or KHTML) doesn't display images in HTML messages, that are referenced to as <IMG SRC="cid:">. It displays a greyed out cross instead. The same e-mail displays correctly in The Bat!, Outlook Express or Mozilla Mail. The attached image is also viewed correctly with KView.

An example message can be found here: http://tomee.kadu.net/newsletter.txt

The linked example above uses content-disposition:attachment, but there is the same problem with "inline" images. The images will display at the bottom of the mail instead of the specified location within the html.

For another example, the PEAR mail package (http://pear.php.net/manual/en/package.mail.mail-mime.addhtmlimage.php) will generate that kind of mail, wich is displayed properly by most emailers.
