Version: (using KDE KDE 3.3.0) Installed from: Compiled From Sources Compiler: gcc version 3.4.2 (Gentoo Linux 3.4.2-r2, ssp-3.4.1-1, pie-8.7.6.5) OS: Linux I have all my panels set up to autohide. That works fine. However, when I also enable "Active Desktop Borders" (with a switch delay of 400 msec) I can no longer access the panels. What I expected was to get the panel immediately and _then_ a desktop switch if I hadn't moved the mouse away from the border before the timeout.

I do not know if I should open a new bug. My problem is similar, but not that extreme. If panel auto hide and Active Desktop Borders (ADB) are enabled the panels do show up when touching the desktop border (so this bug could be marked as fixed), but the behavior still is not perfect. Normally the panel should show up by touching the border without any latency. But with ADB enabled you often have to try multiple times until the panel does who up. Sometimes it takes so long, that the desktop switch is activated instead. (I have set it to 200 msecs currently, but had the problem with 400 also.) My KDE version: 3.5.6 from debian/sid
This is still present in version 3.5.9. It works as in comment #2 when the panel's unhide edge isn't also an active desktop border. When the panel's unhide edge is also an active desktop border, the panel doesn't autohide with any consistency, and when it does manage to hide I can't get it to unhide.
Kicker is currently unmaintained, you can look to your distribution for help, however.
never mind, I upgraded to Kde 4 last year...
