Description Imre Tuske 2004-10-27 23:46:59 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.3.1)
Installed from: SuSE RPMs
OS: Linux

My desktop icons usually keep on forgetting about their supposed position on the screen on the next login.

I suspect it is somehow related to the facts that I have grid snapping enabled and I have the kicker bar on the top of the screen.

Also, sometimes when I create a new icon on the desktop, all icons 'slip under' the kicker (it's on the top edge of the screen, and by 'slip under' I mean the icon positions are not offset by the height of the bar anymore). However, after I move any of the icons, the correct offset is applied again, and they get back to their proper places (until next login, that is).

If I switch off grid snapping however, icon positions are more likely to be preserved.

Hi,
I encountered the same problems as described above.
Anyway it doesn't seem to be related to grid snapping or having some taskbars at some edge or side of he screen. I tried it with some combinations of 'grid snapping' and having a taskbar.
Actually I can confirm the tendency of icons keeping their positions more likely when 'grid snapping' is switched off.
I also encounter the 'slipping under'-problem when creating new icons or moving an existend icon to a new position.

Hi, same for me all desktop icons are shuffled after each kde start.
I have a "normal" taskbar and nothing else ...
And it has nothing to do with grid snapping on or off ...
How does the dektop stores the icon positions ??? Any hints to resolve this problem ?? (Using kde 3.3.1 suse rpm's)
