Description Klaus Wolf 2004-10-26 16:51:02 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.3.1)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.4 20040623 (Gentoo Linux 3.3.4-r1, ssp-3.3.2-2, pie-8.7.6)
OS: Linux

When using Shift-Leftclick on a link -or- Rightclick-SaveAs on an image that is already displayed, there is no referrer being sent by Konqueror, so that certain sites deliver an error page instead of the real content.
Comment 1 gansm 2005-06-15 19:29:47 UTC
And the konqueror sends no referrer with <Crtl> + "left mouse click".
I have to use always the right mouse button popup menu to open a link with referrer. This is very annoying on referrer-protected image galleries. :-(

Text from http://www.mbu.ac.th/ . Will render differently on KHTML and Mozilla.

Sorry, wrong bug.
Comment 4 Leo Savernik 2006-05-26 19:58:55 UTC
Klaus, can you specify an url along with instructions on which this bug can be reproduced?
Comment 5 Klaus Wolf 2006-05-29 10:12:52 UTC
There are several sites that look for the Referer line to reject downloads or deep links from other sites. You can easily "reproduce" the fact that there is no Referer transmitted when using shift-right click by using tcpdump on any http connection.

Do you need such a dump?

The problem still persists with KDE version 3.5.2.
Comment 6 Klaus Wolf 2006-05-29 10:13:34 UTC
s/right/left/1 sorry
Comment 7 J Appel 2006-09-12 12:03:11 UTC
Klaus, can you confirm this with kde 3.5.4?
Comment 8 Klaus Wolf 2006-09-12 21:35:08 UTC
Verified with KDE 3.5.2; 3.5.4 not available for my platform at the moment. Interferes with usage of kget. Simply make a dump of TCP connection traffic, look for a GET HTTP statement, and there look for "Referer". Not so complicated, if you have the packages available.

Stop asking questions, "is it fixed yet?", because it is not. Thank you.

Klaus please provide a testcase or instructions on how to reproduce. The website you link to earlier seems to no longer be up.
Comment 11 Martin Fitzpatrick 2007-01-06 19:11:33 UTC
Confirmed in KDE 3.5.5 / Kubuntu 6.10. A test case is available <a href="http://www.mutube.com/x/kde/kde92142.php">here</a>. Click link normally to see referer information normally sent by Konqueror. When Ctrl-click into new tab, the referer information is not sent.
Comment 12 Philip Rodrigues 2007-01-06 19:16:42 UTC
Confirmed on svn r620k, but if I middle click to open in new tab, referrer is sent
Comment 13 Martin Fitzpatrick 2008-04-03 20:25:25 UTC
Confirmed to still exist on 4.0.3/Kubuntu, although I don't see the middle-click behaviour reported by Philip. Referrers are only sent when left clicking.
Comment 14 Philip Rodrigues 2008-07-27 22:30:33 UTC
Still there in svn r837737. Now middle clicking *doesn't* send referrer for me
Comment 15 Samuel Brack 2011-01-07 13:47:35 UTC
Confirmed in 4.5.4, updating version.
