Description mrudolf 2004-10-10 19:52:06 UTC
Version: 1.1.1 (using KDE KDE 3.3.0)
OS: Linux

New version of Amarok shows strange behavior: when playing songs sequentially (random mode disabled) when songs ends, a few next songs are skipped (i. e. their titles are displayed using OSD, few sounds of some of these songs are played) and then some song about 10 songs after previous one is played correctly.
Of course, all songs are perfectly correct and they can be played in Amarok without a problem.
It looks like strange version of random mode.

I have the same problem :
When I play songs in amarok (1.2 beta2) every second song is skipped. If I delete the amarok files from my user catalog, it will work fine for I while, but eventually songs will be skipped. I have had similar problems in earlier releases also.
If I use buttons to select next track, the correct song is chosen, so the skipping only occurs when changing while playing continuosly
In earlier versions the problem seemed to be triggered while queing songs, but this is not true for the 1.2beta2

I am also using artsd.

i had the same problem too. i use the arts engine
i could solve the problem:
i enabled the crossfading option (i disabled before this option)
and all runs ok.
the same problem occurs when i created mp3-files with audiocd-kio-slave
this files have 32 kbps bitrate. i have choose 192 (max 320) kbps.

I can confirm this behavior, too. In my case it _always_ skips two songs. Enabling crossfade won't resolve the problem so. It makes it 'worse' in the sense that the behavoir isn't deterministic any longer, sometimes skipping songs sometimes not...

the GStreamer and xine engines works fine though.
