Version: 3.3_pre20040506 (using KDE KDE 3.3.0) Installed from: Gentoo Packages There are 5 treeviews in Quanta: 'Files', 'Projects', 'Templates', 'Document Structure' and 'Scripts'. Like I have two monitors I always undock 'Files' and 'Projects' in order to have the Editor (Quanta) on one monitor, and the window with this two treeviews on the other monitor. This setting is not remembered when I restart Quanta. (I don't have 'Reset window layout to the default on the next startup' enabled.) Expected behaviour: When I undock some treeviews to arrange them differently in another window, this layout should be remembered at the next startup. (I would like to have the additional window I created on the position where I moved it with the selected treeviews in it.) (This problem also occurs with only 1 monitor! But I suppose it's less used to undock the treeviews with only 1 monitor.)
Created attachment 7568 [details] This is how I arrange my windows. These settings are not remembered...
I read this in Bug 78904: From Mantia Andras 2004-05-09 09:53: The treeview position is correctly restored under KWin, so this should be a window manager issue. So I'm closing the bug now. But the problem is not that the new window is not positioned correctly... It does not appear at all. The treeviews ('Files', 'Projects') are docked in the main Quanta window as usual, and appear as tabs in the sidebar. I'm not sure... but this does not seem like a window manager issue to me.
This is the way how IDEAl mode behaves... If you want real permanent undocked treeviews, you must switch to some other modes, I suggest Tab Page mode (the old mode used in Quanta 3.2). But as this can be considered a bug, I reassign it to the KMDI library, that provides the MDI interface for Quanta (and other applications).
yes, i hate the fact that this doesn't get saved. Will work on it.
