Description Gilles Schintgen 2004-09-12 12:24:07 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.2.2)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages

Hi, I've just run KMail's "Check What the Server Supports" to auto-detect what encryption methods are supported by my mail provider's POP3 server. It detected TLS, but when I tried to download mail with TLS enabled I got this error message from KMail:

"Could not connect to host Your POP3 server claims to support TLS but negotiation was unsuccessful. You can disable TLS in KDE using the crypto settings module."

I don't think that TLS in general is the problem here. It would probably be better to tell the user he should try disabling TLS for that specific server in the network settings. Even better, the error message could contain a link to the correct configuration dialog, but I don't know if this would be feasible.

And, of course, there should be a period after "host" in the error message.

Keep up the good work. IMHO KMail is just the best mail client out there.

Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report.

KMail2 was released in 2011, and the entire code base went through significant changes. We are currently in the process of porting to Qt5 and KF5. It is unlikely that these bugs are still valid in KMail2.

We welcome you to try out KMail 2 with the KDE 4.14 release and give your feedback.
