Description A T Somers 2004-09-09 11:24:04 UTC
Version: 1.2 (using KDE 3.3.0, Gentoo)
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.3 20040412 (Gentoo Linux 3.3.3-r6, ssp-3.3.2-2, pie-8.7.6)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.5-gentoo-r1

Currently, the corners of a rounded rectangle are streched with the rest of the rectangle. It would be nice if you could choose to keep the corners round. Also, it would be nice if one could modify the radius of the corner (in both round and in the current elipsiod modes).

Thanks for the suggestion. However, I haven't yet thought of a way to fit this into the GUI without making the GUI too complicated.

Would a modifyer key do the trick? Drag with ALT pressed and you get round corners, otherwise you get them shaped like they do now?
I think both modes have their uses, and you already use the SHIFT and the CTRL modifyer keys.

The ALT key is rather troublesome because it conflicts with KWin and from
memory, there was a bug with Shift+ALT (but not ALT+Shift!).

I guess another solution would be to have a floating window for tool options
such as corner roundness - this would also enable more brush shapes for
instance. The window could be hidden by default since additional options are
usually not required; it would enabled with a right click on the existing
tools options area, with a supporting tooltip so people can find it.

Reassigning bugs to KolourPaint support email address.

For what it's worth, I only see the usefulness of having perfectly rounded corners. I realise this is a matter of personal preference, but I wouldn't miss the stretched corners.

Demonstrates rounded rectangles

This issue is very old, but I cannot replicate it? I tested two recent versions of KolourPaint (23.08.5 and 24.12.0) and it seems to me the rounded rectangle's corners are not being stretched. See the attachment. As can be seen, the corners remain a "quarter of a circle" and are not stretched into a "(non circle) ellipse quarter".

Am I misinterpreting the reported issue here or has KolourPaint already implemented this at some point?
