Version: (using KDE KDE 3.3.0) Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages KAddressbook doesn't seem to offer a field to specify the preferred language of a contact. I don't know if there is a standardized name for it in the vcard spec, but LDAP (inetorgperson) does have "preferredLanguage" for instance. It could be useful to automatically select language specific settings in kmail (spell checker, signature..) or kopete (away messages, maybe encoding) or other programs which use kaddressbook.
I very much agree to this wish. If you communicate in different languages it would be very helpful feature.
I would love to see that added as well. Especially in Kopete it would be extremely useful because right now only the default language is set. KMail would be another application where it's very useful.

This must be supported in the base component libabc first.
So should a new bug report be opened for libabc?
Can KDEPIM developers please check if there is a "language" field/property in contacts that applications can query to adapt to a contact's preferred language?
No such preferred-language field to be found as of KAddressbook 5.4.1
