Version: 1.7 (using KDE KDE 3.3.0) Installed from: SuSE RPMs OS: Linux I've a lot of IMAP folders arranged in a tree. The IMAP server supports folders within folders or messages within folders, but not both at the same time (i.e. a folder either contains other folders or messages). During initial creation of the IMAP account KMail scans the folder tree on the server and resports each folder-only folder with this message: Error while reading folder <folderName> on the server: Unable to open folder <folderName>. THe server replied: SELECT failed: Can't open <folderName>: not a selectable mailbox [Continue] [Cancel] This stops the kmail process until a response is made. I don't believe that these messages should be appearing. Other IMAP email clients silently handle this situation. It is normal and is not a cause for alarm. ;)

Crappy UW imap ;-) > During initial creation of the IMAP account KMail scans the folder tree on > the server and resports each folder-only folder with this message: > > Error while reading folder <folderName> on the server: > Unable to open folder <folderName>. THe server replied: SELECT failed: > Can't open <folderName>: not a selectable mailbox This is not normal as even folders that can only contain other folders and no messages should be selectable. My UW handles that correctly. What server version is this?
> What server version is this? I don't know enough about IMAP to know how to find out so that I can tell you. Dunno if it is of any use, but if I telnet to the imap port of the host (which I don't own or control) I see this response string: * OK [CAPABILITY IMAP4REV1 LOGIN-REFERRALS STARTTLS AUTH=LOGIN] bc05412.bocacom.net IMAP4rev12003.339 at Fri, 3 Sep 2004 00:12:06 -0400 (EDT) Any instructions? Or is the above of any help?
Thank you for taking the time to file a bug report. KMail2 was released in 2011, and the entire code base went through significant changes. We are currently in the process of porting to Qt5 and KF5. It is unlikely that these bugs are still valid in KMail2. We welcome you to try out KMail 2 with the KDE 4.14 release and give your feedback.
