Description Arent 2004-08-25 10:01:19 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.3.0)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages

Currently, the login dialog has a fixed size. If you've got a 21' monitor and just 5 accounts, even then you have to scroll around to get access to some user images.

It would be nice if the dialog would do some sort of auto-resize to display as much user images as possible.

the problem is, that the greeter will look ugly if the list is much higher than the rest of the dialog. what do you think would be a reasonable maximum number of list items to display?

I see the problem. Two solutions come to mind:

1) Let the user make the choice by configuring the number of displayed user images via "Control Center/System Administration/Login Manager/Appearance".

2) Redesign the login dialog so it's not getting ugly when displaying a greater number of user images (see attachment). Even then you could let the user decide if he/she wants the dialog to expand automatically or to stick to an upper limit.
