Version:           1.7 (using KDE 3.3.0, compiled sources)
Compiler:          gcc version 3.3.3 (Debian 20040401)
OS:                Linux (i686) release 2.6.5-1-686-smp

This seems to be the same as in bug #54958. To reproduce:
Open kmail
Change Mail Listview sort order (e.g. from [Subject v] to [Date (Order of Arrival) v])
Open Pref-Window (Settings->Configure KMail)
Close Window

--> Mail Listview switches back to [Subject v]

This is KMail from 3.3-rc2 compiled with konstruct-unstable.

I'll talk to Till to about 54958. This is obviously not fixed.
