Is this xinerama or non-xinerama?
Comment 2 Mathieu Jobin 2004-08-23 18:30:21 UTC
i'm using TwinHead nvidia module extention...
so, its recognize as xinerama, but its not the built-in xinerama extention from XFree. but the nvidia TwinHead thing.

I find it very useful that applications from both monitors are show with alt+tab. Otherwise there is no simply way to switch to an application on the other monitor using only the keyboard.
Comment 4 Mathieu Jobin 2005-03-28 00:51:16 UTC
i guess it depends on your focus policy.
with focus follow mouse, it is not really a problem, as most of the time you are concentrate on the screen you have your mouse into and you want to switch to an app on the same screen.

i guess the idea is to have an option that say if you want your screen to be different virtual desktop or not. so that could have separate task list on the task manager and so on.

another small unrelated things about ALT-TAB, you know how you can mouseclick to select the app you want,... why is not it on mousemove event ?

thanks

Why is this the behavior in KDE 3.5.6 (kubuntu)? I *hate* that I can't access other windows on the other monitor by alt-tab. It's REALLY ANNOYING that I have to actually use my mouse when flipping between an editor and two docs, two on one monitor, and the third on the other.

Any way to switch it back to showing all items on current desktop in the alt-tab window?

Yes. As simple as clicking the link above and reading.

Committed to SVN (r662065) for KDE4.

Mr Lunak,

I've looked at my kwinrc, and the SeparateScreenFocus setting is false, and I'm still getting the split screen behavior. Can you think of anything else that might cause this?

Btw, I don't mind setting things in kwinrc (instead of having a UI option), but it's knowing where to find the definitions of those settings that's a problem usually. Is there a place where I can find a unified list of what each setting is, and what it does?

Thanks for

Mr. Lunak,

I've set the SeparateScreenFocus to true, and it gives me the behavior I want, which is all windows on one desktop in the alt-tab list.

Is this backwards? Seems so to me, especially from reading the information on the issue here: http://ktown.kde.org/~seli/xinerama/

Thanks for your time.

The KDE3 version of the patches (that's no in KDE SVN and as such not official) had a bug in that setting. I'll post updated patches so distributions can pick them up.

While I know this isn't necessarily the place to post this, I will since I don't want it getting lost in the noise.

Thanks for your work Mr. Lunak. I and several others I know deeply appreciate the attention to detail of the entire team. Thanks for the prompt feedback in helping me get my issue addressed. It doesn't go unnoticed.

Thanks again.
