Description Michael Schuerig 2004-08-06 23:55:49 UTC
Version: 1.6.2 (using KDE 3.2.3, (3.1))
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.4 (Debian 1:3.3.4-7)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.7

Email message don't live in a world of their own, rather they refer to other resources, which is already handled via embedded URLs, and often there's a need to refer to a message from another resource.

What this means in practice, is that I'd like to refer to email messages from within other KDEPIM apps, KWord documents, and possibly other apps.

To support this, KMail should tag every message with a globally unique ID. There should be a commandline option and a dcop method to show a specific message in KMail. Also, messages should be accessable through a URL (mail:<GUID>; I don't know about IMAP, probably there's something better already specified there) and either opened in KMail or in an embedded KPart.

So much for my wishes, I hope I'm able to convince you that this functionality would not only be cool, but would help to integrate email messages into workflows.

Michael

Thank you for your feature request. Kmail1 is currently unmaintained so we are closing all wishes. Please feel free to reopen a feature request for Kmail2 if it has not already been implemented.
Thank you for your understanding.

Instead of creating a new feature request, please confirm here if the wishlist is still valid for kmail2.
