Version: 0.7.6 (using KDE 3.2 BRANCH >= 20040204, Mandrake Linux Cooker i586 - Cooker) Compiler: gcc version 3.3.2 (Mandrake Linux 10.0 3.3.2-6mdk) OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.3-7mdk The last icon on the main toolbar <Kontact> is displayed as the first icon on the main toolbar <Knode>.
Sorry, but I don't understand this report. Maybe you could elaborate a bit more or attach a screenshot.
Having two toolbars on the same line is confusing. Please either put a delimiter between the two toolbars or remove the Kontact toolbar or put the Kontact toolbar on its own line. There was another bug since fixed that made this situation more confusing.
There should be only one toolbar... Here is a screenshot: http://www.kontact.org/pics/shots/news.png Your toolbar should look somehow similar, depending on your version there might be a slightly diffrent button order or additional separators.
Kde 3.2.3 Mandrake 10.0 On the screen there is one toolbar line. In Settings/Configure Toolbars there are two toolbars to be configured. One controls the left part of the toolbar line, and the other controls the remainder of the toolbar line. Both toolbars do not accept the same icon set. What a mess.
Thanks, now I see where your problem is. If you have selected 'Main toolbar <Kontact>' you should see something like this under 'Current actions': New [something] <Merge> What's this? This is the same for all Kontact parts. At the position of the <Merge> entry, the toolbar of the currently selected part (e.g. knode) is inserted. Since there is a global toolbar and one for each part that is merged in, you cannot select the same actions for the kontact and e.g. the knode toolbar. I hope this explanation helps, I agree that it might not be very obvious if you don't know how kontact works ;-)

I can configue "Main Toolbar <kontact>" or "Main Toolbar <kmmainwin>" There is no indication that "Main Toolbar <kontact>" will appear on the left of "Main Toolbar <kmmainwin" on the same line. Perhaps a change has been made after 3.2.3
AFAICS there haven't been toolbar related changes since 3.2.3. Also the toolbar editing is not special to kontact, it is provided by KDE itself (you should see the <Merge> tag e.g. in the konqueror main toolbar). Unfortunately I currently don't have a 3.2.3 here to test it. But I have one last idea: Do you have a $HOME/.kde/share/apps/kontact/kontactui.rc file? If yes, does it help if you remove/rename it and restart kontact?
Removing kontactui.rc and restarting kontact puts <merge> in the right box. If <merge> is sent to "Available actions" it disappears and is never seen again. <merge> can also be moved up and down in the right box. The creation of the global toolbar should be transparent to the user. The user should be able to see where the <kontact> icons are and where the <kmmainwin> icons are on the global toolbar. The <kontact> icons should be seperated from the <kmmainwin> icons by a vertical bar on the global toolbar that is the complete height of the toolbar.
You are right, the <merge> tag cannot be re-added after it has been removed. However this is a problem of the 'Configure Toolbars' dialog, same problem occures eg. in konqueror.
Is this still relevant to recent KDE version? If not please close the bug. Thanks, Lex.
Hi, kdelibs (version 4 and earlier) is no longer maintained since a few years. KDE Frameworks 5 or 6 might already have resolved this bug. If not, please re-open against the matching framework if feasible or against the application that shows the issue. We then can still dispatch it to the right Bugzilla product or component.
