Version: 1.6.82 (using KDE 3.2.91 (3.3 beta1), compiled sources) Compiler: gcc version 3.3.4 (Debian 1:3.3.4-3) OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.5-1-k7 When reading a message and new mail arrives, the bar which indicates which messages is being read is shifted to the newly arrived mail, but the preview pane still shows the message I was reading. I cannot read the new message because it is already selected... I'll attach a (small) ksnapshot..
Created attachment 6627 [details] screenshot of wrong focus. i'm using online-imap btw
Did you checkout the sources from cvs? If yes, when did you last update?
beta 1, via konstruct last yesterday.
Tom, we believe this to be fixed in cvs. Please re-check with the next beta, and reopen if it still happens there.
Still happens with the cvs-version. I'll attach an example.
Created attachment 6714 [details] screenie Was reading first message (selected), then I pretty sure the mail of Ingo arrived and the view switched to the "Re:Wotm:"-message.
Well rereading the whole bug-report, it struck me that this is different from the first report, but related.
Ok. This is getting pretty annoying now, but I've tracked it down a bit more. I've sorted the message list on date asc (oldest on top). I have two messages, A and Z. Z is located at the bottom and has a time in the future. I am reading message A. Then new mail arrives with a current time, so this will be inserted between the two messages. This happens ok. At that moment the preview pane will switch to message Z (the one dated in the future). The messagelist has still got the focus on message A.
Does kmail has to scroll the headerlist to show Z when this happens? I can't reproduce this currently so there has to be something different in our setups...
No, there is no scrollbar needed, just a few messages in the inbox. Some settings I have: - Do not go to first unread message in the folder. - I use online-imap - I have threading enabled, but there was no thread in the inbox. - It was someone who used a wrong timezone, so the list showed the message two hours in the future. Need to know more?

as the message list was completely rewritten, can you still see the problem with KDE 4.3 ?
I don't use kmail anymore.
I haven't been able to replicate this in recent versions of kmail. I'll leave you guys alone now. ;)
