Version: (using KDE KDE 3.2.3) Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages OS: Linux An option like Konqueror plugin but enbebbed in akregator.
good idea.. also, display an icon in the statusbar while a feed is detected while browsing webpages..
Hmm, also konqueror could show an icon in location edit when a feed is detected much like Safari does. See http://www.apple.com/macosx/tiger/safari.html
Re comment #2 There's no need for aKregator to duplicate something that already exists elsewhere in Konqueror. The rellinks project/plugin [1], which is to be included with KDE 3.3 in kdeaddons, already has an icon with a dropdown list for "other versions", including RSS etc. Right now the problem with this is that clicking on an RSS item in that list just loads it in the embedded editor in Konqueror. What it should do is export to aKregator or some other RSS app. I imagine some degree of co-operation between the aKregator and rellinks devs will be needed but that would be preferable to needless duplication. I suppose a separate bug should probably be filed for this (I was actually looking to see if one already existed). [1] http://shift.freezope.org/konq_rellinks/
is relinks default in kde 3.3?
That depends what you mean by 'default'. It probably also depends which distribution one is using. rellinks is in the konq-plugins package which itself is in kdeaddons. If you compile KDE from source with konstruct I believe you should get kdeaddons. If you have the UA switcher or the new search bar you should also have rellinks. I don't have KDE 3.3 beta myself (ok, it didn't compile properly for me) so I don't know what state rellinks is set to by default (there are three - never display, display when needed and always display) but it's probably set to display when needed, which would be fine. Anyway, the upshot is that for this to work the aKregator konq-plugin should depend on konq-plugins.
Well, there's now a rss icon in the statusbar of the konqueror if page has a feed.
Yup and rellinks is disabled last I checked because it's very broken. I like the current approach better, and it fixes this bug.
Apparently I misunderstood.
Yup, this means adding konqmenuplugin to pageviewer, if I understood correctly.

I think similar 'feeds found' -button as konqueror has would be useful to have in akregator, too, or at least right mouse button menu option 'add the feed to akregator'. I myself often 'keep on surfing' with akregator if I open an interesting blog, and end up on another blog that I want to follow.. So I have to copy the RSS URl to clipboard before I can add it to the same program I used to to find it.. r
