Description Frank Mulder 2004-06-30 22:17:52 UTC
Version: 1.6.2 (using KDE 3.2.2, (testing/unstable))
Compiler: gcc version 3.3.3 (Debian 20040401)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.3-1-386

When I start KMail, it wants to ask for my password. But at the same time the Tip-window is opened. The login window is now behind the tip-window. To log in, I have to move the Tip window first, then login and afterwards close the Tip window. I think the login window should appear on top of the Tip window.

Agree, but I thing the tip of the day is nothing confidential, thus it should be possible to close it without logging in.
Comment 2 Frank Mulder 2004-08-27 16:14:11 UTC
True, that's possible. But the login window is bigger than the tip window, so if you don't know there's a tip window behind the tip window, you don't know what to do (as the controls on the login window are disabled as long as the tip window is active). I mean, it's no problem for me, but newbies may have problems with this.

sorry, typo. must be: '... so if you don't know there's a tip window behind the login window ...'
Comment 4 Frank Mulder 2004-08-27 16:17:02 UTC
oh, sorry.... again false...
I mean: the login window is behind the tip window. The login window is a 'modal window', I mean a window which holds the focus. As long as the login window has the focus, you can't close the tip window (as the controls are disabled). I hope it's clear now...

In version 1.11.4 the login window gets displayed before the main window is shown. The tips window is only displayed once the login is accepted and the main window is opened.

according to comment #5, we can close this issue.
