It would be great if I could filter emails by date-time in addition to the current  filtering through headers. Filtering by date should allow specifying the range of dates (from ... to ....) and result in only the mails sent within the given range being returned.

Probably the easiest way to do it would be just adding '<date>' to the criteria dropdown in the 'Find in folders' window. Obviously in this case the comparison should be 'date-wise', not alphabetical.

As it can be unclear for the user which date format should he or she use, after selecting <date> from dropdown, the value textbox could be initialized with the current date in the correct format.


One can also imagine adding second similar option named - say - '<send-within-days>' after selecting which the user would enter the number of days, resulting in the search for the mails only within last ... days. Of course the semantic of this field would be the same as <date> (and redundant), but in some circumstances it can be more natural (when searching for mails sent in January this year I would rather use <date> twice with less than 2004-02-01 and greater than 2004-01-01 filters, while searching for the mails sent last week I would rather use <send-within-days> with value 7)
