Version: 2.1 (using KDE 3.1.4) Installed from: (testing/unstable) Compiler: gcc version 3.3.2 (Debian) OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.22-xfs I set up my X to show about a quarter more width than physically visible on my screen. KDE/Kate dialogs like "open" or "save as" normally pop up with a width about max width minus a bit. On a X desktop like mine (1000 x 600 instead of physically 800 x 600) this results in the necessity to move my mouse left and right to see all parts of the dialog. I think, it would be much better if KDE/Kate would take the physically max screen width as basis instead of the virtual max x size.
kate does not set the size. reassigning.
forgot to change mail address - sorry.
Moving from "kio/kfile" component to "kfile" product, helps sorting out duplicates.
Seems fixed with KDE Frameworks 5.
