Version: (using KDE KDE 3.2.2) Installed from: Gentoo Packages This is a bit related to bug #70294. In Opera I can change tab by holding down the right mouse button and turning the wheel. There's even an option of directly changing tab or going up or down a list of tab names (faster and easier to grasp I suppose). This is a cool feature I'd like in Konqueror. Now that we have Gestures, it's one of the only things lacking to make Konqueror a Speed Surfers dream -- Opera still claims that title for me.
I think we will rather go for switching with pure wheel and without RMB and popup list. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 77946 ***
But bug 77946 requires me to moves the mouse to the tab area, and if I'm there I might as well click the tabs. Opera allows me to change tab with just RMB+Wheel, whereever I am.
Right, I only tried it above the tabs. How is a user supposed to know this feature? No, users don't read manuals. :-)
They might know it from using Opera. However, if we (ie you) think it's a good and useful feature, shouldn't we (you) put it in anyway? RMB+wheel to change tab in any application sounds pretty useful to me. It's a UI trick Windows doesn't have, but that doesn't mean KDE shouldn't.
I'm voting for this bug, it would be very useful. And, of course, how do users know about the wheel changing tab in the tab bar? So, this is not an excuse not to do it.
