Description Jed Clear 2004-04-27 02:29:46 UTC
Version: 3.2.1 (using KDE KDE 3.2.2)
Installed from: FreeBSD Ports
Compiler: gcc version 2.95.4 20020320 [FreeBSD]
OS: FreeBSD

I imported a vcalendar (.vcs) file with one event. DTSTART and DTEND were specified as:
DTSTART:20040425T140000Z
DTEND:20040425T170000Z

My system timezone is EST5EDT (US/Eastern). My evironment doesn't have a TZ variable set, date(1) displays the correct time, as well as the clock in the KDE task bar. No timezone fiddling was done in any KDE app.

For the date specified, we are in daylight savings time, GMT -0400, yet KOrganizer displayed the imported event from 0900 to 1200, GMT -0500, rather than the 1000 to 1300 it should have been. Seems like something is missing the daylight savings flag.

Reproduce by:
Set system time to America/US/Eastern with /stand/sysinstall; reboot.
Import vcalendar file with DTSTART and DTEND specified in GMT (Z) time, for a date during daylight savings time.

Possibly useless info:
clear@fbsdk6:~> uname -a
FreeBSD fbsdk6 4.9-RELEASE-p4 FreeBSD 4.9-RELEASE-p4 #16: Fri Mar 26 17:58:25 EST 2004 root@fbsdk6:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/K6 i386
clear@fbsdk6:~> korganizer -v
Qt: 3.3.1
KDE: 3.2.2
KOrganizer: 3.2.1
Comment 1 Jed Clear 2004-04-28 03:05:14 UTC
The DTSTART and DTEND saved in std.ics for this event are identical to the .vcs input, so it's something with displaying the Z timed events, rather than vcalendar translation.

thanks for the bug report.

This issue seems to be fixed in the latest version of korganizer.

Cheers,
Reinhold
Comment 3 Jed Clear 2004-11-14 16:31:15 UTC
Was this tested before the end of daylight savings time, or with a
suitably altered system clock?

Comment 4 Andrew Kohlsmith 2005-05-25 22:09:32 UTC
This bug is back in 3.4.

Exact same description as the original poster, I'm using Kontact (1.1) (slackware 10.1 packages of 3.4) and getting vCalendar data from an email. It's an hour off and we're all in the same timezone, synchronized to the same timeserver.

DTSTART:20050526T203000Z
DTEND:20050526T210000Z

and it shows up as 3:30pm to 4:00pm, not 4:30pm to 5:00pm.

Reassigning all KOrganizer bug reports and wishes to the newly created
korganizer-devel mailing list.
Comment 6 Denis Kurz 2016-09-24 18:52:39 UTC
This bug has only been reported for versions before 4.14, which have been unsupported for at least two years now. Can anyone tell if this bug still present?

If noone confirms this bug for a Framework-based version of korganizer (version 5.0 or later, as part of KDE Applications 15.08 or later), it gets closed in about three months.
Comment 7 Denis Kurz 2017-01-07 22:47:13 UTC
Just as announced in my last comment, I close this bug. If you encounter it again in a recent version (at least 5.0 aka 15.08), please open a new one unless it already exists. Thank you for all your input.
