Version: 1.6.2 (using KDE KDE 3.2.1) Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages OS: Linux Also once when I clicked the "Check What the Server wants", I got an error #0, please file a bug at http://bugs.kde.org. This I cannot repeat. When select "Send Queued Messages", I get: Sending failed: Authentication failed. Most likely the password is wrong. The server responded: "authorization failed (#5.7.0)" ....... Ethereal shows it never contacted the SMTP server. If I use Mozilla mail it works and I see this in ethereal: 220 random.sendthemtomir.com ESMTP EHLO bustropolis.com 250-random.sendthemtomir.com 250-AUTH LOGIN CRAM-MD5 PLAIN 250-AUTH=LOGIN CRAM-MD5 PLAIN 250-PIPELINING 250 8BITMIME AUTH CRAM-MD5 334 PDYwODkuMTA4MjQ0NDEyM0ByYW5kb20uc2VuZHRoZW10b21pci5jb20+ bWFpbCAyNzgwNzk0ZmY3OTRiYzIyZWE0YTIyMGE1Y2NkYTg1YQ== 235 ok, go ahead (#2.0.0) .......... I have two machines with Kmail on them, and one never worked, and the other worked and then stopped working. By working I mean sending an email over SMTP via cram-md5 auth.
Trying to change back to mailshell's SMTP server, it does not work, and if I go to "Check What the Server Supports", I get: Unknown error code 0 Please send a full bug report at http://bugs.kde.org. This SMTP server is mailshell.com Selecting "Send Queued Messages": Sending failed: Could not connect to host mailshell.com
Same with Kmail 1.8.2: Server responds: plain authentification not supported - but the smtp-setting for the account is cram-md5
Can you reproduce with current KDE 4.3 ?
Hello! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this version of Kmail has been unmaintained for many years so I am closing this bug. Please try using the latest version of Kmail to see if your issue persists. If it does, please submit a new bug in "kmail2". Thank you!
