Version: 0.7.7 (using KDE 3.2.2, (testing/unstable)) Compiler: gcc version 3.3.3 (Debian 20040401) OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.5 The filter dialogue, on the extra tab you can create filter rules based on article points. This area contains drop down boxes with smaller than-, smaller than or equal-, equal-signs and so on. This is confusing since you really have to think about which way around the sign should be. It would be easier if there was some descriptive text. I suggest adding a line above the controls which reads: "If article scores.." and maybe switch the score and drop down controls around, and certainly change the text of the drop down boxes to something meaningfull like: "less than", "less than or exactly", "exactly", "exactly or more than", more than".
I agree this dialogue is very unintuitive, especially in the way that you have to enter it in the format "figure <= score <= figure". Even I, with good maths skills, took some time and trial-and-error to work out that the first test is backwards. My wife is dyscalculic and hence she cannot remember it even after a lot of effort. Most people will want just one comparison, so why force every KDE user to learn mathematical notation just to setup a filter ? It would be better to have a clear i18n'able text something like: "Score is" [greater than] [figure] "and" [less than] [figure] "Age is" [greater than] [figure] "days and" [less than] [figure] "days" "Length is" [greater than] [figure] "lines and" [less than] [figure] "lines"
