Version: (using KDE 3.2.1, SuSE) Compiler: gcc version 3.3.1 (SuSE Linux) OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.21-199-default I've recently activated kde-wallet, mostly for remembering what I used as a username on one of those "every now and then" webpages I visit where my favorite UID is already taken. Unfortunately, it seems that if the wallet is active, knode won't "save" a password in it's configuration file. At first, I thought there was some interaction w/"kontact", but after a few tests it seems that if the config file does contain the password when you start, it gets "forgotten" when you exit so the next time you start it is blank. If you set it during a session [and click "cancel" for opening the wallet], it does get saved and the next time you open knode it will be used, but when you close that instance, it is again "forgotten". The various dialogs that appear when you intentionally do not open the wallet ends with "it is recommended to store your password in the wallet", which leads me to believe that the program will be storing the password (which I suppose it does, but only until the next time you run the program) I understand why the wallet is "a good thing", but face it, we're storing a /newsgroup/ password, not the key to my life's savings ;)
forwarded bug : http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=292926 There's similarity in this bug, it's seems that an interaction problem exists with kwallet.
Hello! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this project has been unmaintained for many years so I am closing this bug.
