Version: 1.6.1 (using KDE 3.2 BRANCH >= 20040204, Mandrake Linux Cooker i586 - Cooker) Compiler: gcc version 3.3.2 (Mandrake Linux 10.0 3.3.2-6mdk) OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.25-2mdk With new KMail when sending a message choice of address of recipients can be made through a pop-up box which may appear confusing : - on the left side a column with a tiltle "Address book" and below 3 groups of addresses : "recent addresses", "other addresses" and "mailing lists" ; recent addresses do not systematically belong to the "Addressbook" so there is a need to change the tiltle of this column (possibility of a wrong French translation !) ; I would simply suggest "Mail addresses" - when selecting an address in the left column this address appears in the right column ; then there is a possibility to register it as a mailing list ; then this one will be installed as such in the left column under "mailing lists" : how can we get rid of any of these installed addresses that may have become obsolete or wrong ? - more generally how to delete any of the "recent addresses" that may have become obsolete or wrong ? - I would assume that "other addresses" relate to the addresses of the "Addressbook" content and therefore can be deleted only through the "Addressbook" application ?
This has changed a lot with the new reciptients editor, it would be great if you test it and report back if you feel it improves things for you.
did you try out the new editor? it would be great if you could report back your findings. thanks in advance
Matt, is the new editor the one that makes a difference between Person <email> and email (Person) If so, the recent addresses list should *not* contain addresses already in the addressbook: the duplicates are confusing as I keep selecting the "email (Person)" one which doesn't know about encryption preferences et cetera: very, very annoying.
that looks like you are describing the autocompletion, which works that way so that you can autocomplete on both email and name I dont have any encryption issues with autocompletion, are you saying that if you choose the wrong one it wont encrypt?

The problem is slightly more complex: when I select the "email (Name)" variant instead of "Name <email>", it will not automatically pick up encryption preferences for that recipient from the addressbook, so I have to choose the key again, etc. etc. If I do encryption works fine. So I suppose the problem only exists for contacts in the addressbook whose e-mail address starts with their first name, but I bet it's still rather confusing for anyone who hasn't read the above clarification.
