I know there are things with higher priority, but maybe for someone will take no more than 4 minutes to implement this.. I'd like to use a different notification when new mail comes to a watched thread. I think this makes sense :-P. Thank you kmail developers!

This would be very helpful for those of us who are active on several mailing lists such as myself. This would be great.

This was covered in bug 37681.

In the folder properties you can uncheck the option "action on new/unread mail". Then no notification is generated when new mail is moved in there.
