Description Jim Higson 2004-04-01 14:39:48 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.2.1)
Installed from: RedHat RPMs
OS: Linux

Sorry if Konqueror is the wrong component, it seemed the closest match for this problem, which relates to file chooser dialogs.

In kate I wanted to open the .c files in a folder, so I selected open and navigated to the dir. The chooser allowed multiple selections so I typed *.c in the location field.

The chooser did not like this. It did not use *.c as a wildcard, nor did it recognise it as an invalid file name, and created a file called '*.c'

IMO it would be much beter if file chooser dialogs allowed wildcards when accepting multiple selections. In this case manually clicking all c files is tedious, especially when I'm used to typing *.c on the shell.

Moving from "kio/kfile" component to "kfile" product, helps sorting out duplicates.

You could type *.c in the filter box, and it'll show only those files in the view.
