Version: (using KDE KDE 3.2.1) Installed from: Compiled From Sources OS: Linux Adding replaygain/mp3gain support for ogg/mp3 would be a nice addon, that makes juk even more perfect than it is already for me.
Care to explain what that is? ;-)
A good site that explains replaygain is http://replaygain.hydrogenaudio.org/ hydrogenaudio.org in general is a good site for musicfreaks who are interestedin all the encoding stuff. XMMS (since 1.2.8) is a good exampel that has already implemented replaygain-support for ogg-files. I think there is no need to do this for mp because after replaygaining mp3 files with the "mp3gain" it works in every musicplayer.
just would like to know, if somebody is considering to work on this. maybe a short status update?
You may have noticed that there are 67 outstanding feature requests, but just one of me. ;-) Sorry -- I can't make guarantees on when or if I'll be able to get to specific items.
Hi Scott. I haven't checked, how many wishes exist for Juk. Just to explain, why replaygain might be one really important think: If you listen to many CDs as ogg-files in random play mode, you always have to adjust the volume. This is because the volume differs from CD to CD. Many people with big music collections would like the musicplayer to do that if they just knew about replaygain. I think, Juk has already reached a great level. It has a very nice interface and thus is a joy to use. It is just this one feature.... Maybe this doesn't need to be integrated in Juk but in the multimediaframework of KDE responsible for playing ogg-files.But I'm not an expert in these thinks. Probably you know some people that could help you out in this regard?! ;) Hope, I could change your mind a little bit. ;) I can imagine, coding this nice app as an one-man-factory is not easy.
Isn't this a dupe of #72558? (or vice versa)
Indeed this is just volume normalisation. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 72558 ***
