Description Sylvain Joyeux 2004-03-03 18:57:46 UTC
Version: CVS HEAD (using KDE KDE 3.2.0)
Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages

The Find/Select/Replace dialog has one input field for "find" and one for regular expressions. It is quite annoying and useless.

Moreover, it would be nice if the dialog would be able to remember the radio buttons & check boxes state.

One input box too many isn't a bug.

I agree that it could be better though, and am in fact working on it.

Changing severity to wishlist.

I'm wondering where the code is Jens?

I believe the saving of the checkbox state is very important, especially the "Prompt on Replace" checkbox. The default state for this is unchecked, and even though I check the box, for my next session it is unchecked again. This is an extreme annoyance as I typically do a find and replace and get everything in the file changed. I can undo this, but only if I am paying attention. I think the "Prompt on Replace" checkbox is important and in my humble opinion, should upgrade the bug to at least Minor.

@Chance: This BR is about the search-replace plugin. Unless I'm mistaken you are talking about the katepart replace dialog, which is something else entirely. What you are describing indeed sounds like a bug, but it has absolutely nothing to do with this report. File a new bug report instead (but first try to make sure it's not already reported, I suspect it is).

@Andreas: This is in KDev3 parts/replace. I haven't kept up, I have no idea if this relates to KDev4 at all.

I wasn't talking about where the replace part is (I know that), I was talking about the code you apparently were working on to fix this issue.
