Version: (using KDE KDE 3.1.5) Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages I would like to be able to attach notes to bookmarks. Rationale: when editing a long document, I often find myself thinking "don't forget to change that thing later". Then I go ahead and place a bookmark there. This way, I end up with many bookmarks, and sometimes forget why I put them there. A feature allowing me to attach a short note to a bookmark would be great. The notes could be kept along with the bookmark positions across editor sessions. As for interface details: a bookmark with a note attached could display a slightly different icon in the icon border. When moving the mouse cursor over that icon, the note would pop up, balloon-help style. Clicking on the icon would open a window which allows to edit the note or remove the bookmark. Similarly, the Bookmark menu whould display those bookmarks that have notes slightly differently, and would popup the note when the cursor is over the bookmark. To set a bookmark with note, one could have a new entry in the Bookmark menu "add bookmark with note". The same function could be accessed by middle-click (right-click) on a position in the icon border. Cheers, Axel
Notes are good, but why not simply give them names. By default name is MyDocument:144 for example( like it is now), but I can rename bookmark and give it a meningful name for examaple : Here I wrote about smth(MyDocument:144)
*** Bug 80384 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
Dear user, this wish list item is now closed, as it wasn't touched in the last two years and no contributor stepped up to implement it. The Kate/KTextEditor team is very small and we can just try to keep up with fixing bugs. Therefore wishs that show no activity for two years or more will be closed from now on to keep at least a bit overview about 'current' wishs of the users. If you want your feature to be implemented, please step up to provide some patch for it. If you think it is really needed, you can reopen your request, but keep in mind, if no new good arguments are made and no people get attracted to help out to implement it, it will expire in two years again. We have a nice website kate-editor.org that provides all the information needed to contribute, please make use of it. For highlighting improvements our user manual shows how to write syntax definition files. Greetings Christoph
