Description Jose Hernandez 2004-02-24 05:46:13 UTC
Version: 0.20 (using KDE 3.2.90 (CVS >= 20040117), compiled sources)
Compiler: gcc version 3.2.3 20030422 (Gentoo Linux 1.4 3.2.3-r3, propolice)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.20-gentoo-r6

Loading blank pages on the net happens often but the last url tried was:
http://www.census.gov/eos/www/papers/umdigital.pdf

Opening this in kghostview shows that this contains a font unavailable (though kpdf opens it just fine) and displays blank pages. Not a big problem unless it's opened in Konqueror from the web and is the default embedded viewer. There should be an error message or perhaps a fallback font. Or maybe it's a font load bug?
Comment 1 Jose Hernandez 2004-02-24 05:56:33 UTC
Oops, I noticed that this is due to the "Show Ghostscript messages in a separate box" option. Apparently, the tab with kpart kghostview must be reopened after changing the option in order for the message box to show up.

The bug then seems to be instead that the user should not have to reopen the pdf file in another tab/konqueror for this affect to take place. Also, perhaps a fallback font as a matter of convenience?

Does this still happen now that the KPart is based on Okular? The referenced PDF is not available anymore for me to test it myself.
