Compiler:          gcc 3.3.3 
OS:          Linux

Special characters such as up arrow, etc., (↑) do not show up on the page.  Only a box shows up.  You can usually see an example of this on the www.varlinux.org page, although it varies depending on whether or not there are trends in the weather.  

This is a REALLY old bug, and I'm shocked it hasn't been fixed yet.
