Sorry, didn't see this was resolved, closing bug.
Comment 2 Hackeron 2004-02-14 04:20:39 UTC
no, it seems the solution from other posts didn't work.. I compiled QT 3.3 and recompiled entire kdegraphics, full screen still just displays nothing full screen and then image is black to when coming out of full screen and kuickshow needs to be restarted, please fix.
Comment 3 Olivier Fisette 2004-02-20 03:27:15 UTC
I also have this problem using KDE 3.2 and Qt 3.2.3 on my Gentoo Linux box.
Comment 4 Hackeron 2004-02-20 20:29:20 UTC
Sorry, emerging the masked QT 3.3 indeed fixed it, I recompiled entire KDE, but it wouldn't work because kdm ran in background even after killing X. After killing kdm, my kuickshow is able to display images in full screen.

I have the same problem (black window 1x1, black even on maximize)

I emerged in new instalation of Gentoo:
x11-libs/qt-3.3.0-r1
kde-base/kdemultimedia-3.2.1
kde-base/kde-3.2.1

but NOT
kde-base/kdeaccessibility-3.2.1
kde-base/kdeedu-3.2.1
kde-base/kdetoys-3.2.1
kde-base/kdeutils-3.2.1
kde-base/kdenetwork-3.2.1
kde-base/kdepim-3.2.1
kde-base/kdeaddons-3.2.1
kde-base/kdeadmin-3.2.1
kde-base/kdegames-3.2.1

the problem is still here ... (QT 3.3 is not longer masked)

Now it works for me. I did "emerge sync" updated all KDE* and qt, but it didnot help. So I unmerged all KDE*, manually deleted remaining files/dirs and installed all from scratch. Now it works OK - problem was on my side - old versions/bad instalation or something like it.

Sorry, this is definitely not solved. It occours here. Debian/unstable KDE 3.2.3. Viewing an image shows a black screen in fullscreen mode.

Another computer, new instalation of Gentoo, KDE.3.2.3 the problem is here again ... :-(
Comment 9 Stephan Kulow 2004-08-04 11:40:28 UTC
yes, it works on some, but not on all installations.
Comment 10 Hackeron 2005-01-14 16:35:31 UTC

Version: 21.08.1 (using KDE plasma 5.22.5)
Installed from: Archlinux Packages
Os: Linux

Ladies and gentlemen, this bug was reappead in 2021.
After I adjusted the peofiles by konsole setting, I press F11 when konsole is in maximized mode, resulting in a full black screen. But press F11 when konsole is **not** in maximized mode, everything is on the right way.

I adjusted Konsole's background blur and transparency a few days ago, and today I adjusted it back to opacity.

I can reproduce this.
Fullscreened maximized window cause black screen. Work around by making window smaller and fullscreen it.

I'm also experiencing this issue.
Happens with all applications when changing from maximized to full screen.
I can also work around the problem by changing the application window size before putting it on full screen.

If I disable compositing (can be done with Alt-Shift-F12 shortcut) the problem does not happen.

OS: Arch Linux x86_64
