Version: (using KDE 3.2.0, (testing/unstable)) Compiler: gcc version 3.3.3 20040110 (prerelease) (Debian) OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.22b-w4l-p4 Hi, I use Kile and Kghostview to produce my thesis. My .tex file is quite large and pdflatex on a P4-1800 takes about 30 seconds to render it (because there are lots of Matlab exported EPS->PDF files and lots of PNG files embedded I suppose). during that time, KGhostview spams my desktop with "Opening of file diplomarbeit.pdf failed." pop up messages. I would like KGhostview to: - either (workaround) display this message only ONCE, wait until the user clicks OK, and only _THEN_ retry opening the file, - or (better) display this message not as a popup, but as a status bar information, keep retrying until the file is readable again. The current situation forces me to close six to ten "CAnnot open file" windows after each pdflatex run. I reported this bug earlier (about half a year ago) but then kghostview crashed when the PDF changed. Now it only spams me with obvious and useless messages. Thanks, Jens
