Description deech 2004-01-26 14:26:15 UTC
Version: kmail 3.1.4 (using KDE KDE 3.1.94)
Installed from: Mandrake RPMs

I have some wishes for kmail. Hope more people will like them, so that some day soon we might find them in kmail...

1. Toggle Preview Pane
This will enable you to toggle the Preview Pane on and off by using a button on the toolbar.

2. Quick Reply
This will add a small edit box and a button below the email preview in the main interface. If you type some text and then click the button, a reply is sent to the writer of the currently selected email with the typed text in the body.

Thanxs anyway for a great product!

Hello deech,

your first wish is already implemented in KMail 1.6 from KDE 3.2. There is no button on the toolbar for it, but you can toggle it in the configuration dialog. The second wish is new, I think, I've adjusted the summary to reflect it. Please file one wishlist entry per wish/bug. It makes things easier to organize. Thanks.

Hi,

For the fist one...wauw that's quick ;) Ok well i will have to try kde 3.2 then. Any chance that a toolbar button will be added to toggle between preview pane on/off?

Thanks for adjusting the summary for the second part. And next time I will post one wish per entry.

greetings,

deech

Well, there is no button because my reasoning was that having a preview pane or not is kind of a general decision people make based on their email workflow when setting up KMail. I didn't think many people would want to change back and forth quickly. Maybe I need to rethink that. :)

if it isn't to much trouble perhaps you can add a button for it? Doesn't have to be default on the taskbar. You could add it if you like to use it. It's not that i'm using it every day. Perhaps it's easier to assign a key combination to it? That would also be sufficient for me. Just a way to quickly switch. Come to think of it, this might even be better...But hey, don't put hours and hours of developement in it. Better put those hours in my second request ;)

The second wish isn't new. You already filed it 18 days ago.
