Description Vlad Savitsky 2004-01-08 09:45:56 UTC
Version: 3.1.1 (using KDE KDE 3.1.1)
Installed from: RedHat RPMs
OS: Linux

It would be good to have a groups for tasks.
For example,
home
 +-- To buy socks
 +-- To send letters

internet
 +-- www.kde.org - to view new versions
 ...

Not a task in task but groups (without priority and etc.)
Just like a folders.
This folders must present persentage of making to themself
but for included tasks.

Why?
If I have a lot of task it's hard to manage it.
Usualy a have several calendars (about 10).
Each for different part of my life.
But often I need to plan my day and need to
see all in one place. Now I need to open all my
parted calendars and join it by hand.

Also, it would be great to add to view of tasks
spliting by groups. It's usefull to join tasks.
For example,
"phone calls"
"visits"
"outdoor job"
"home jobs"
etc.
This can help to join asimilar tasks and save a time.
Thank you.

An alternative would be to have several task lists, and make task lists independent of calendar (-files).
I would appreciate this too.

Isn't this wish already in 3.3.1?
Comment 3 Reinhold Kainhofer 2004-11-26 02:08:08 UTC
No, that wish is not in any version of korganizer. You can have hierarchical to-do lists, but the parent will always be a to-do.
The feature request here is to have possible parent elements that cannot be marked as finished.

*** Bug 76546 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
Comment 5 Christian Schaarschmidt 2006-05-28 16:29:08 UTC
I would like to suggest to implement this feature as "group by" <any property>. this way there is no need to bother about defining folders and assigning task to folders, just right-click on e.g. category header and say group by.
In combination with Bug 76546 sub-groups would as well be possible.
Comment 6 Reinhold Kainhofer 2006-11-02 19:08:34 UTC
Reassigning all KOrganizer bug reports and wishes to the newly created
korganizer-devel mailing list.
Comment 7 Michael McConnehey 2007-01-12 09:46:33 UTC
We could effectively do this if we could sort by category.
Comment 8 Tim 2010-09-09 10:04:57 UTC
I'd like to resurrect this wish as it has great potential. And I'd like to add to the prior comment... that categories should be able to be viewed in groups. I have many todos and many categories -- too many to handle the way korganizer currently manages the views.

So, for example, if my categories where:
 - when-ASAP
 - when-this week
 - when-this month
 - when-this year
 - when-someday
 - where-home
 - where-store
 - where-office
 ........
I could then select which categories I would like to see.. for instance when-ASAP and where-store, and they would be listed together in one view like:

WHEN-ASAP
all the todos with this category with designated columns

WHERE-HOME
all the todos with this category...

As a bonus, it would be nice if I could just dray a todo from one category to another to change the category (but I would be happy if just the grouping feature was implemented.)

I believe that these changes could be included in the filter manager (although it maybe should be renamed to "view manager" or similar).
