Changing title to refer to yahoo, since there is already a bug for this for MSN ( bug #70538 ) What protocol does Yahoo use for Video chat? If it uses SIP this is effectively a duplicate of #70538, and #70538 can be changed to refer to SIP.
libyahoo2 (which is used by kopete) seems to provide webcam support as I read in their changelog: http://libyahoo2.sourceforge.net/ChangeLog Would it still be complicated to implement webcam support?
Yes, it's still complicated. However, the backend library having support for it makes it a tad easier.
Maybe it would be easier to use http://phpaint.sourceforge.net/pyvoicechat/index_gwebcam.php as a plugin until native support is implemented in Kopete.

I need to talk to my family in UK and USA. And many friends in Middle East. Yahoo! Voice Chat is the most important for me. Because of Yahoo! Voice Chat I have to use Windoze :(.
please support voice chat, I need it to talk to my parents in India. Here in Dubai, Skype and other voice over ip are blocked by the Government :(. I'm left only with Yahoo! messenger and unfortunately no Linux client has this great feature. I've tried gyache but there voice is more like noise, utterly useless. Either I must use windows and windows' yahoo client to talk to my parents or use telephone international call, which is very costly. I'll be obliged if you support voice chat in kopete.
Hello from the KDE Bugsquad! Unfortunately, Yahoo has discontinued the Yahoo Messenger service, and the code has been removed from Kopete. Thus, I am closing this bug as "UNMAINTAINED" since it will no longer be fixable, or able to operate due to Yahoo.
