Version: 1.5.4 (using KDE KDE 3.1.4) Installed from: Debian testing/unstable Packages Compiler: Debian Package 4:3.1.4-1 OS: Linux I have eight (8) identities configured in Kmail -- four (4) different email addresses & four (4) mailing lists. Incoming mail is sorted into folders corresponding to these different identities. Whenever I reply to a message in one of my email folders, kmail sets the identity to one corresponding to a mailing list. Always the same specific email folder & mailing list identity. I have verified that the configuration file is correct and reset the identities to no avail. I have no problem with any of the other folders.
I guess you didn't set a special identity to be used with the problematic folder. KMail tries to be smart and checks the recipient addresses of the message you reply to for a corresponding email address in one of your identities. The first matching identity is then used for the reply. I guess that's why the mailing list identity is used. You might want to reorder your identities. Unfortunately you'll have to edit your kmailrc to do this because identities can't be reordered via KMail.
Subject: Re: Incorrect Sender Identity & Return Address Used When Replying to a Message Actually, the problematic folder _does_ have an identity associated with it and if I create a new message the correct return address/sender address is used. It's only when I'm replying to a message that it picks up the incorrect return address/sender address. I will have a go at reordering the identities in kmailrc to see if that helps. Thanks! I have similar problems: I have 5 identities set up with mail being distributed into a number of folders. If I hit compose or I hit reply to a message the sender identity is the identity of the last email I sent. It does not matter who the email was sent to or what the identity specified in the folder properties is. Playing around with it, I just realized that if I click reply and see a composer with identity A, change the sender identity to B, discard the window and click reply again the new window will have sender identity B. If this is something I can fix by playing around with config file? If so, how? -- Per.
I never was able to fix this and just learned to live with it. I spent an hour or so fiddling with the config file without success. I was hoping that with the next upgrade it just would go away, but I upgraded to 3.2.2 from 3.1.5 last week and it still does the same thing. cmr On Tuesday 11 May 2004 06:54 pm, you wrote: > ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- > You reported the bug, or are watching the reporter. > > http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=71707 > > > > > ------- Additional Comments From kde minionis com 2004-05-12 01:53 ------- > I have similar problems: > > I have 5 identities set up with mail being distributed into a number of > folders. As a workaround you could use the KMail filters. Filter on "To:" and choose the action "set identity to". And set the filter to not stop filtering, if you have other filters running.
I'm closing this in favour of a newer one. I guess a fix for 81416 will solve your problem as well. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 81416 ***
