Description A.P.C. 2003-12-23 07:13:38 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.1.94)
Installed from: Gentoo Packages
Compiler: Think its 3.3.2-r3.....but maybe r4.....not in Linux Now :( Whole system built using CFLAGS="-march=pentium4 -O3 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer"
OS: Linux

After right clicking on bookmark toolbar and choosing to show bookmarks with just icons, Or adding the extra toolbar, etc......After looging out then logging back in, everything is back to the way it was, eg...text is shown with icons again on the bookmark toolbar, the extra toolbar is not there, etc. This is all done after trying every option to save everything.....saving window positions, saving and re-applying viewing profile, and making sure the sessions are set to save current, etc. But nothing works, it always goes back to the previous state.
Comment 1 A.P.C. 2003-12-23 07:20:23 UTC
BTW....Whole system and KDE was built without a single failed build. So it's not an issue of a borked package having to be tweaked to make work. Everything went smooth as silk....this time :)

Works for me with CVS 12-19-2003. Turn on toolbar text, exit
Konqi, restart. Text still there.

Hmmm....don't know what it could be, but it sure doesnt for me. Just tried it. Turned OFF text for bookmarks and had only icons.....restarted....opened konqueror....and the text was there again. Just came from 3.1.4 two days ago. Was experimenting with some GCC optimization flags so I built a "stable" Gentoo sytem....everything was fine. Went back and rebuilt using 3.1.94 with minimal flags and now those few settings aren't sticking for me ????

Maybe try starting with a fresh profile? Log out of KDE, mv ~/.kde ~/.oldkde,
and restart. Then try it. When you're done, get rid of the new .kde and
mv ~/.oldkde ~/.kde. If a fresh profile works, it may be a more subtle bug
or a permission problem. Also, it looks like you're using beta 2, while I'm
using the latest CVS - perhaps the problem was fixed in the last week or so.
For Gentoo, the CVS ebuilds are really no more trouble than compiling the
beta. Go to http://dev.gentoo.org/~caleb/kde-cvs.html, grab the tar, extract
it to /tmp, export PORTDIR_OVERLAY=/tmp/portage, and emerge kdelibs, kdebase, ...
Comment 5 A.P.C. 2003-12-28 00:26:24 UTC
OK...I'm at a loss. Tried starting with a fresh profile.....no luck. Just got done building the very latest CVS....still no luck. Konqueror is still doing the same thing for me (open Konq. Click on settings >> toolbars >> click the checkbox to show the bookmark toolbar >>>>> add bookmark >> right click on bookmark toolbar >> text position >> click checkbox to show icons only. After logging out or rebooting and opening Konqueror.....the text is back. Tried every variation of saving viewing profile, window position, etc.....with no luck. It's not a major issue....just annoying.

Any other ideas ????

Thanks,

Cap

My mistake. I can confirm your bug report. I was turning off text
in the main toolbar rather than the bookmarks toolbar. Guess I didn't
read the bug report closely enough.
