Version: 0.7.94 (using KDE 3.1.94 (CVS >= 20031206), Gentoo) Compiler: gcc version 3.2.3 20030422 (Gentoo Linux 1.4 3.2.3-r2, propolice) OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.0-test9 Hi, Sometimes when I want to set an account into online state instantly after another, there seems to be a conflict between the RMB menu and the kwallet dialog which freezes up the whole desktop (I can move the mouse but nothing reacts to the mouse, keyboard input or shortcuts) so that I can only escape using STRG+ALT+Del (haven't tried to kill kopete from outside X yet). To reproduce (be careful and save modified documents etc. :) ): - In kopete's main window, right click on an IM account and set it to online or so (I've tried it with two jabber accounts). - You will have to be fast: right click on the other account icon just before (or at the same moment when) the kwallet dialog shows up. - If the timing was "good", you will see the problem described above... I'm not sure if that's a bug in kopete, kwin or X. As the problem only shows up with kopete, I will try it here first.
I think this is a kwin problem. I run into stupid conflicts like this ever since the new kwin_iii was introduced to CVS. Various windows, subdialogs, etc. arguing over focus. You might try adjusting your focus stealing prevention level (right-click titlebar --> Configure Window Behavior --> Advanced. I'm reassigning this to kwin...feel free to send it back if I'm wrong.
Subject: Re: [Kopete-devel] New: Kopete freezes up X when a protocol RMB menu clashes with the kwalled password dialog I saw it this morning too (KDE + Kopete CVS, from the first week in December). I was in a hurry to do something, forgot I had autologin enabled, and clicked on the File menu, when the kwallet dialog appeared due to autologin. I was able to switch to another virtual console and kill Kopete then dismiss the dialog.
