Unfortunatly ... the "Encapsulated message" is discarded and only the main part of the email is quoted (perhaps the encapsulated message should be in the attachment view ... either way) Note this is not the same as bug:60813 I assume this may have to do with the fact that kmail cant do its own encapsulating when doing basic forwarding/replying.
You have several options in the upcoming KMail 1.6 in KDE 3.2: a) If you just want to reply to the encapsulated messages then open the encapsulated message in a separate message window and hit reply. b) If you want to reply to the main part and the encapsulated message then mark everything you want to quote and then hit reply. (That's already possible in KDE 3.1.) c) If you just want to quote some parts then select and copy those parts and then paste them as quotation. If one receives a message digest with several encapsulated messages one won't want all messages to be included in the reply. And we won't bloat KMail by adding an option like "Include encapsulated messages in replies". So I'm sorry, but I'll close your wish. BTW, I don't understand what you mean by "perhaps the encapsulated message should be in the attachment view". It definitely is listed in the message structure viewer (or the attachment list or the mime tree or whatever it's called in KDE 3.1). I also don't know what you mean by "kmail cant do its own encapsulating when doing basic forwarding/replying". Ever tried "Forward as Attachment"?

[I feel] Kmail is one of a few applications that will make/break kde from going into the "granny" environment. This basic "feature" is one of them. It is a bug if a user presses the "reply" button but does not include the _whole_ message. Im not saying this should be the only method ... i am saying it should be the default method. Perhaps, like I had said before, which should work with little change ... If kmail detects that replying to this email will not include the whole message, it should attach what it can not "do properly". In this case, quote the main body of the message and attach the encapsulated message(s). That possible? maybe call it "smart reply" I guess now is not a good time to bring new features up. Maybe i should wait till after 3.2's released? :-)
