Description Stefan Hellwig 2003-11-25 18:36:32 UTC
Version: (using KDE KDE 3.1.93)
Installed from: Compiled From Sources
Compiler: gcc 2.95.3
OS: Linux

When I receive a meeting invitation (generated by a Lotus Notes system) by e-mail KMail displays it as text reading:

You have been invited to a meeting
The meeting will take place in Office from 15:00 to 16:00

However, the meeting is actually scheduled from 16:00 to 17:00. The ICS file contains "150000Z" and "160000Z" as DTSTART and DTEND but Lotus Notes as well as KOrganizer realize that 16:00 to 17:00 is the correct time scheduled for that meeting. When I import the ICS file into KOrganizer the meeting is correctly added (from 16:00 to 17:00). The time that KMail reports is always one hour earlier which is quite confusing when you just scan your incoming e-mail for that information. Maybe it has something to do with timezones? I will attach a sample ICS file shortly that will hopefully show what I mean.

Meeting Invitation ICS Sample File

Sample ICS file which hopefully shows the behavior I'm describing in this bug
report.

I see the same in kmail 1.6.2 / KDE 3.2.2. It's a timezone problem, in my case the displayed time is off further. The time ending with Z is a Zulu / GMT / UTC time, and needs to be converted for local display. Or at least the message should say "UTC" in it.

The iTip handler now KDE 3.3.2 honors timezones.
