Description Amit Shah 2003-11-02 18:41:50 UTC
Version: 1.5.2 (using KDE 3.1.4)
Installed from: (3.0)
Compiler: gcc version 2.95.4 20011002 (Debian prerelease)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.0-test1

if the 'keep messages on server' option is enabled and some messages are selected to be delted in the pop filter dialog box, they're still retained on the server and not deleted.

How is your POP account set up? Do you have the option "delete messages from server after fetching" (in KMail settings, network tab) selected? If not, can you check the behaviour with that option checked?

Ofcourse, that's the point. I don't want to delete them on the server. On
checking that option, it has been working fine.

Just to give feedback, this is the way how it's implemented in KMail. This
makes sure that you don't delete any mails on the server when it's disabled
in the account settings. These settings overrule the POP filter setting.

IMO it's less a bug than a wishlist item, but I let this decision to the
core developers.

I have some extra suggestion.
When "leave fetched messages on server" and using the pop dialog one needs the following options to cover all eventualities

Download and don't show anymore (currently green tick)
Do not download now but keep showing (currently yellow button)
Do not download and do not show anymore (currently red cross)
Delete from server (new)
A button to re-list all messages on server (new) (so some can be deleted)

Currently one needs another way of accessing the account to delete a message.

In fact it would be ideal to have the functionality that KShowmail had, but unfortunately that package is not maintained anymore.

Actually it is a bug, not a wish. I have a few POP accounts. Only one of them has the option 'leave fetched messages on server' selected. I have created a POP filter that should delete the emails on the server if the FROM header contains a specified email address.

I understand that you treat it as a wish that the filter action should have a higher priority than that setting. The problem is that the emails don't get deleted even for other accounts for which the fetched emails should be deleted.

To summarise, it looks like that if one of the POP accounts has the option 'leave fetched messages on server' selected, then the delete message filter action does not work.

Thank you for your feature request. Kmail1 is currently unmaintained so we are closing all wishes. Please feel free to reopen a feature request for Kmail2 if it has not already been implemented.
Thank you for your understanding.

Instead of creating a new feature request, please confirm here if the wishlist is still valid for kmail2.
