Version: (using KDE KDE 3.1) Installed from: RedHat RPMs OS: Linux kalarmd is always running my CPU at near-maximum load. I'm not sure why. I don't even use KAlarm, or any of the other organizer programs. This only started about a week ago, when I tried to install a new version of xFree86. No one on those mailing lists seems to know how to fix it, so I'm hoping you guys might be able to help me. This is a very annoying bug, as some aspects of system performance are seriously affected, and many KDE-native programs (Kdevelop, KBounce, KOffice, etc...) won't run at all now! System: Redhat 9, kernel is 2.4.20-20.9, CPU is P4 2.6GHz, with 512 MB RAM How to reproduce: bungle an Xinstallation (but I'm not even sure that's what started it!) and then kalarmd will hold the CPU at max load expeceted behaviour: low CPU load when few or no applications running, be able to run KDevelop, etc...
Sounds like bug 64671. At least it isn't korganizer's or kalarmd's fault, but a general KDE problem, which - as far as I can see - has been fixed. Thanks for the report, Reinhold *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 64671 ***
Really? How was the bug resolved? I'm a little new to linux, and didn't really understand the solution. But I'm not entirely sure these bugs are conncted to mine. They also mention problems with kwin, X, and wallet, caused by problems with klaptop. I don't see much connection here because I am ONLY having problems with kalarmd, and am not even running a laptop, and have never seen klaptop in the process listing.

well, I had to reinstall my system, for other reasons. I had backed up home directopry and vital files, and after installation and up2date-ing, the bug has not reappeared. Until it does, I consider the bug closed.
reinstall got rid of bug (for now)
