Version: (using KDE Devel) Issues: 1) Because the different game types which people can play are hidden in a submenu, much new users think that they only can play Klondike with KPatience. This is a problem because when they like one of the other supported games (a lot) more, they will not as enthousiastic about KPatience...and KDE, as when they directly see that the game(s) they love is supported. So we should make that they directly see all supported game types. 2) Not everyone knows all the game types and sometimes they know a game type only under another name. Because of this they will not find the game they want to play. My proposal: o Remove Settings->Game-type submenu. o Add the entry "Game->New...": this will open a dialog to choose the game type [1]. o Replace "Game->New" with "Game->New <current game type> game": this will start a new game of the current game type (This should also be the action of the New button in the button bar). [1]The dialog to choose the game type: o ...should contain a list with all available game types. o ...should show somewhere in the dialog a thumbnail screenshot of the selected game type. o ...should show a description of the selected game type (and eventually also "how to play information"). To reach this, maybe parts of the KPatience Handbook can be reused/linked!! (fixes issue 2) o ...should start the first time people start KPatience. o ...should contain a button to start a new game. o ...should have a "don't show this again at startup of KPatience" checkbox (usable for people who always play the same game type). o ...should contain the things that I forgot :)
yeah ! and do not start another one automaticaly. please prevent addict people to die in front of kpat.

I never realized how badly this was needed until my wife saw me playing Spider and asked, "Hey, why don't I have that game?!" I told her that she needed to choose it from the menu, to which she replied, "How was I supposed to know about that?"
I know - even though my wife is of the clicking kind... ;)

reminder from #169278: if done, remove the _gameCounted logic if done
I fully agree with this request. Also, not starting a game automagically would be nice (or make it an option).
ok, I implemented it for svn - it doesn't look nice imo, but it works. and maybe an artist picks it up from there.
