Description Oyvind Hanssen 2003-08-28 13:40:41 UTC
Version: 4.3.10 (using KDE KDE 3.1.3)
Installed from: Unspecified Linux
OS: Linux

If I complete a todo in the KOrganizer, quits KOrganizer and then synchronizes with
the PDA, these changes are lost. Changes on the PDA are synced correctly to the PC. New items are synced correctly.

It does not help to choose "Desktop overrides Pilot" in the conduit conflict resolution settings.

I have Debian Unstable and a Palm Vx.

this happens in conduit 4.4.1 in KDE 3.2.1 - Treo 600

the new items are not synced either, in fact they are deleted. I have done rm -rf on everything *kpilot* under .kde and problem still exists. I special sync pc overwrites handheld first, then switch to fast sync.

I think I figured it out.

I believe this is related to the fact that changes are not saved immediately in Korganizer.

If you make a new task or event, it does not get saved to the .ics file until you File>Save or the auto save timeout is reached.

AFAIK, the conduits sync with the .ics file. Korganizer is sensitive to changes in the file (it will reload if the file changes).

Perhaps kpilot could somehow (optionally) force Korganizer/Kontact to save?

If I can add to comment #2 although it is true that if you change a todo on the PC (marking it done or deleting it say) and then do a save before a sync then the update is reflected on the PDA it doesn't work for new todos created on the PC. These are not lost when you sync, but they're not copied to the PDA either, they are simply ignored. This is with kpilot 4.4.5 (Augsburg) which came with the KDE 3.3.1 today (via Gentoo).

So sadly I don't think it's as simple as making kpilot force korganizer/kontact to do a save.

I experience the same as in comment #7 here (KDE 3.3.1, KPilot 4.4.5 (Augsburg)), i.e., a new todo item does not show up on the Palm though other way round works.
Comment 9 Stephen Bishop 2004-11-30 17:16:06 UTC
I am experiencing the same behavior as in comment #7. KPilot 4.4.5 (Augsburg) using KDE 3.3.1 on Gentoo (kde-base/kdepim-3.3.1, the latest stable ebuild). I will point out that calendar items created on the PC are copied to the Palm, but not ToDo items.

Is this related to 86879 (which is also related to problems syncing from desktop to hand held in the 4.4.x series)?
