Version: v0.8.3 (using KDE 3.1.2) Installed from: Gentoo Compiler: gcc version 3.2.2 OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.20-ck6 Kget is a download manager right? It's integration with kde is just great and would offer great comfort if it worked better with modem connections. I have some trouble with it's functioning in that way in combination with Kppp....: Point one: Ok so I want it to dl files and disconnect my ppp connection with kppp after it is finished, without my intervention. In case the connection drops I have set kppp up to reconnect. KPPP works fine and does "reconnecting" without any trouble. (Kudos to KPPP) Now Kget should resume when it detects that the ppp connection is up again, but is doesn't. It simply puts the file it was downloading in "delay" instead of leaving it qeued and wait to resume. (Yes, I have waited several minutes to watch what is does but the file just stays delayed) I will manually have to qeue the file again to have it resume, which defies the purpose of a download manager which should take care of the entire process without me being around. Mind you, I have set kget up to handle broken connections and continue (reconnect) when possible as this option seems to be given in the first setup tab. Point two: I have put more than one file in the qeue that I wish to download and want Kget to disconnect after the last file. Yet, kget offers to disconnect after every completed file and does not continue when I am not around (I need to choose not to disconnect in case the auto diconnect is enabled). I DO however want it to disconnect kppp when it has finished all files in the Qeue (Not the delayed ones..)..... which moves me to point three...... Point Three: Although it is possible to disconnect kppp from kget without interaction by means of the expert mode, this also introduces the disadvantages of the expert mode :( (I won't get into those...) It would be nice to have a separate set up option/button to disable disconnect confirmation. The last issue is not tragic as it always possible to enable expert mode during the download and have it disconnect automatically. I hope these points make a "point" but perhaps I am carrying in the salt while the egg has been eaten already, (You may have taken care of this for future KDE 3.2...?) Nevertheless I think thes issues should be addessed, as kget is basically useless like this for multifile downloads and instable modem connections........ (Kget works great with an adsl connection provided by a router, and waits patiently when the line is temporarily down.)
Thank you for the bug report. Unfortunately we I not able to get to it yet. Can I ask you to please check if this is still an issue with either Plasma 6.2.5 (the current LTS version) or Plasma 6.3 (the latest released version).
