Description Peets 2003-08-07 09:33:30 UTC
Version: 4.0 (using KDE 3.1.1)
Installed from: SuSE
Compiler: gcc version 3.3 20030226 (prerelease) (SuSE Linux)
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.20-4GB-athlon

I am unsure where the problem lies, but looking at ft.com seems to seriously load up a system. I've tried (spit cough) IE on WIndows and that doesn't exhibit any problems. 'Serious' stands for 100% system load until I change site. Side note: the page appears to make use of (argh) ActiveX as well (another reason to stay well clear of the IE/Windows combination) =- not sure if that's related.

Confirmed for HEAD. It's X that jumps to 80% CPU use here. Konqueror stays at 10%,
which is high and probably indicates that something that it's doing is causing X to do
whatever it's doing.

Seems to be re-rendering text a lot.

Not too bad these days, but still burns quite some cycles
