Version: 3.1.3 (using KDE KDE 3.1.3) Installed from: SuSE RPMsSuSE Compiler: gcc version 3.3 20030226 (prerelease) (SuSE Linux) OS: Linux (i686) release 2.4.20-4GB-athlon Every time I log in, my destop icons are not arranged in the position I last left them, forcing me to place them anew where I'd like them to be. I have noticed this same bug with several older versions of KDE, and most reported CLOSED or FIXED, yet here we are with KDE 3.1.3, and the bug stil exists. It seems like it should be a simple matter to have a .config file save the desktop icon positions (and names, sometimes they change also) and load that upon each login so that all is as it was upon logout. Yet according the the bug reports, KDE hasn't been able to do this reliably since version 1.0 What gives?
After some observations, I have noticed a pattern to the unexpected re-arrangement of desktop icons. It seems that KDE places the DVD-ROM icon in the second position down from the top left corner, then the windowsC icon below that. The icons that were in those positions are moved so that those two can occupy the second and third positions every time. This happens for all users.
This problem doesn't seem to exists with KDE 3.1.4, so I am closing it.
This problem exist in KDE 3.4.2. But appeared when I put more icons on my desktop. See the attachements.
